Dagu Ethiopian Development Consortium
The Dagu Ethiopian Development Consortium (Dagu): A unified platform for local CSOs, driving sustainable, community-led change.
“Together we will solve our community’s problem”
United Front for Afar’s Future
CSO Collective for Resilience
In the face of severe crises—conflict, displacement, and systemic gaps—local Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) in Ethiopia’s Afar Region are the essential first responders. However, these groups are often isolated and under-resourced.
The Dagu Ethiopian Development Consortium (Dagu) solves this by unifying these local actors. We act as a powerful, collective platform dedicated to boosting their advocacy, technical skills, and impact across development, peacebuilding, and humanitarian aid.
By strengthening our member CSOs, Dagu ensures a more effective, accountable, and influential local response, building resilient communities from the ground up.
Our Core Values
Our Core Strategic Approaches
Collective Advocacy & Policy Influence
We engage in evidence-based advocacy to ensure Afar communities are heard, promoting transparency and the protection of human rights.
Extensive Capacity Strengthening
Building a robust civil society ecosystem by strengthening governance, technical skills (like M&E), and leadership for women and youth.
Strategic Partnership Building
We build bridges between local CSOs, government, and INGOs, based on mutual respect and a commitment to local ownership.
Funding the Future
By investing in this platform, you are not just funding a single project; you are investing in the long-term institutional resilience and agency of local actors who are critical to the region’s future. Dagu is creating a powerful, single platform to pool the resources and expertise of local actors, allowing them to overcome historical challenges of isolation and limited resources, ultimately driving sustainable, long-term impact across the Afar Region
